PRIVACY POLICY
This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy” or “Policy”) for Astra products and Astra services describes information that Astra Inc. collect, use, share, and store, including personal information that personally identifies you, such as your name, email address, or other data that can be reasonably used to infer this information. This document focuses on information related to the operation of Astra products and Astra services. In this Privacy Policy, the expression “Astra products” also includes our websites, Astra MSP Portal, Astra-branded hardware and mobile APPs.
Astra Inc. (alternatively referred to herein as “Astra”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) are committed to protecting your privacy on Astra services. We recognize that the trust placed in us by you requires comprehensive and responsible privacy protections, and we are therefore omitted to providing you with a positive, easy, and secure online experience.
We recognize the need to maintain the confidentiality of information that you reasonably expect to remain private. You expect, deserve and receive nothing less than our fullest commitment to your privacy.
Our commitment:
- We will be transparent about the different types of information we collect and how we use them.
- We will ask your permission before sharing your personal information with third-parties for purposes other than at your request or provide Astra’s products, and to do so only when we think they will provide you with a welcome additional service.
- We maintain a variety of physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information and data.
Our Privacy Policy explained:
1. What information does Astra collect?
Any information you enter during the submission of forms or an order on any Astra websites may be collected and stored in our database. In order to better define the type of information that is collected, we have identified and grouped it into seven categories:
- Personal Information;
- General non-specific and demographic information;
- Environmental data from the sensors on Astra products;
- Video and audio signals and data;
- Technical information from the device;
- Log files
- Customer proprietary network information
Personal Information
We collect your personal information you provide us, information collected as a result of your relationship with us and information we may obtain from other sources. Personal information, as defined by this Privacy Policy, is an information that can be used to identify you personally, i.e. your name, address, telephone number, email address, and other information required to provide a service, deliver a product, provide customer support.
General Non-Specific and Demographic Information
Any non-personal information either entered by you or recorded as part of the transaction process is considered to be general non-specific and demographic information. This is information that does not contain personal information, and may include experience with Astra products and services, such as the type and quantities of the products purchased and used, your web browser and operation system types, the identity of the web page from which your browser entered our websites, and any other demographic information such as title, educational and employment background, professional interests, which does not specifically identify any one individual. Such information is typically collected by the use of cookies, web logs, and web beacons.
Environmental data from the sensors on Astra products
We collect data from several sensors built into Astra products, such as the ambient light sensor on Astra cameras or wireless signals. These sensors collect data of the use environment. By recording this information, Astra products can react to the environment conditions to keep the operation. For example, Astra cameras will turn on night-vision mode automatically when the environment is dark.
Video and audio signals and data
When you enable the recording or streaming features of your Astra camera, we may record and process video and/or audio recordings from the device, subject to your configuration and settings. This may include capturing and emailing to you portions of this data as part of a notification or analyzing the data to identify motion or other events. We may process information from your Astra camera so that we can send you alerts when something happens. In addition, if you have the recordings features enabled, we will capture, process, and retain video and audio data recordings from your device for the duration or the storage size of your recording subscription plan (i.e. 10 days, 30 days or 10GB, 30GB) and you will be able to access those recordings using the Astra services.
You may save and may choose to share certain content like video clips, live video streams, images, captions, and comments for other people to access using the Astra services. We will collect and store information that will allow us to save or share your content as directed by you through the Astra services.
Technical information from the device
In order to improve your experience over time and help troubleshoot any problem you may encounter with Astra products, we record the device model, serial number, UID, software version, hardware version, and technical information such as WiFi signal strength.
Log files
As is true of most web sites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information may include IP (Internet Protocol) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operation system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data. We may combine this automatically collected log information with other information we collect about you. We do this to improve services we offer you, to improve marketing, analytics, or site functionality.
Customer proprietary network information
Should we provide telecommunications services to you, we may collect and maintain certain customer proprietary network information (“CPNI”). Your CPNI might include the types of telecommunications services you receive, usage information, user IDs and password, billing, and transaction information.
2. How does Astra share your information?
Your personal information will NOT be sold, traded, or rented to third-parties unless you grant us permission to do so and expect as otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy.
Astra may share your personal information to trusted partners/distributors who are acting on behalf of or with Astra under confidentiality agreements. These companies may use your personal information to help Astra support you during your use of Astra services and Astra products, or help Astra communicate with you about offers from Astra and our marketing partners. However, these companies do not have any independent right to share your information.
When we use third-parties to assist us in processing your personal information, we require that these parties agree to process such information strictly in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with this Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures. Astra does not assume any liability for third-parties that have been provided with information as permitted by this Privacy Policy or who have collected information as permitted by this Privacy Policy.
When you choose to connect third-party products and services through Astra platform, you are shown details about any proposed exchange(s) of data between Astra and the third-party that is providing the product or service. In some cases, Astra or the third-party will instead (or also) ask for permission to control the products that you have connected. Your explicit consent is required to allow any of these exchanges or requests for control and you will be able to revoke it at any time.
We may respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process by disclosing your personal information and other related information if required by law or regulation. We also may use your personal information to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.
We may share your personal information and any other additional information available to us in order to investigate, prevent, or take actions regarding to illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety or any person including Astra employees, violations of any Astra Terms of Use, or as otherwise required by law or regulation.
We are committed to respecting and protecting your CPNI. Except as may be required by law or authorized by you, we DO NOT sell, trade, or share your CPNI, including your calling records with anyone outside of Astra or with anyone not authorized to represent us to offer Astra products or Astra services, or to perform functions on our behalf.
We will ask you for your opt-in consent to share your personal information with a third-party for any purpose not described above or as otherwise required by applicable law or regulation. Circumstances may arise where, whether for strategic or other business reasons, Astra decides to sell, buy, merge or otherwise reorganize businesses in some countries. Such a transaction may involve the disclosure of personal information to prospective or actual purchasers, or the receipt of it from sellers. It is Astra’s practice to seek appropriate protection for information in these types of transactions. You will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on Astra websites of any change in ownership or uses of your personal information, as well as any choices you may have regarding your personal information.
3. What does Astra use the information for?
In order to provide you with the best user experience possible, we collect both your personal and non-personal information to give us a better understanding of the demographic and geographic profile. The information we collect is reviewed closely to assist us in determining the most popular products and services of interest to you, update you on new services and benefits, to personalize our services for you and to better design our products, web sites, mobile APPs to suit your needs.
By tracking your IP address through our website and mobile APPs, we can better understand the types of products and services and information that are relevant to you, and may from time to time use this information to provide you with information or promotions that match your various geographical and demographic dynamics.
In some cases, we may combine web/mobile APP usage information related to your access to our websites/mobile APPs with personal information. We use the combined information to provide our customers with a better user experience by providing customized features, services, and advertising. Once combined, the resulting data is protected as personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.
Astra may use service providers to perform some of these functions. Those service providers are restricted from sharing your information for any other purpose.
Astra uses industry-standard methods to keep this information safe and secure while it is transmitted over your local network and through the Internet to Astra servers. Depending on your location and type of data, Astra may process your personal information on servers that are not in your country.
4. How does Astra keep the information Secure?
We use the Internet encryption protocol Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to protect the security of your personal information when you are using Astra services and Astra products. The SSL protocol is also implemented for (i) guarding your account information, and (ii) securing all logs of settings and online services of your device(s). Astra will continue to revise its policies and implement additional security features as new technologies become available. However, no system or service can provide an absolute assurance of security, especially services that rely to some extent on the Internet. Therefore, by using Astra services and websites, you acknowledge the risk that third-parties may gain unauthorized access to your information. If we determine that a security breach has occurred and such breach creates a risk of identity theft or service disruption, we will make reasonable attempts to notify you.
You should understand data via online transmission is not completely secure. We cannot guarantee full protection and security data, only that we take all reasonable action to protect information sent to us electronically. Transmission of any data by you is at your own risk. Where applicable you may be given access to sections of our site(s) that require a password. You are responsible for the password’s safety and confidentiality.
5. Accuracy and Access
Astra endeavors to maintain the accuracy of your personal information. If your personal information changes, or if you no longer desire to use Astra services, you may correct, update, amend, delete/remove, or deactivate it, or by emailing us (support@astra.cloud) or our resellers/distributors. We will response to your request to access within 30 days.
We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Links to third-party websites are provided solely as a convenience to you. Use of these links by you will cause you to leave the Astra website(s). Astra has not reviewed these third-party sites and does not control and is not responsible for any of these sites, their content or their privacy policy. If you are asked to provide information on these sites or in connection with services provided by these sites, we strongly encourage you to carefully review their privacy policies before sharing any information. Astra neither endorses nor makes any representations about any third-party sites, or any information, software or other products or materials found therein. Or any results that may be obtained from using such third-party site. Your access of any third-party site is at your own risk.
6. Privacy Updates
Astra reserves the right to update its Privacy Policy from time to time. When we change the policy in a material way, a notice will be posted on our website along with the updated Privacy Policy prior to the change becoming effective.
